Our history

Low & Bonar Hungary kft was founded over 30 years ago in Tiszaújváros Hungary, as part of petrochemical company TVK (Tiszai Vegyi Kombinát), which focused on producing geotextiles in a limited range. In 1993, the ISO 9001 certification was obtained and the product range was expanded. The transformation into a Dutch majority-owned company, called Geo-Tipptex kft took place in 1995.

Investments in the production capacity took place in the following years and CE marking was obtained in the early 00’s. In 2006, the company was acquired by the Low & Bonar group. 2007 and 2008 saw the installation of a new nonwoven line and the commercialisation of a new, high performance, nonwoven range.  In 2012, the company merged into Bonar, together with Bonar Technical Fabrics (Belgium) and Colbond (the Netherlands).

In 2015 and 2016, the company moved to a new, modern location and a state of the art nonwoven line was acquired and installed. This enabled production of top quality nonwoven up to 6.5m width. At the end of 2016, all divisions of Low & Bonar, including the Tiszaújváros location, had their name changed to ‘Low & Bonar’ to strengthen our market presence as 1 international group.
